Regen SW 2008 survey of renewable energy in the the South West finds the region's installed renewable energy capacity has grown by 15% (25 MW) in the past year, and almost 90 MW of new capacity has been approved and is waiting to be built.

Reported incidents of bird crime increase significantly in the South West

South West results of the wild bird indicator reveals population indices for all native bird species was unchanged between 1994 and 2006. The indices for both farmland birds and for woodland birds dropped by 10%. In all cases, the indices were broadly in line with the national index.
