  • Devon is the largest county in the South West, accounting for 27.5% of the region's total land area. 
  • It also has the largest population of any county or unitary in the region, with 14.2% of the South West's total population. However, the large land area means that this population is relatively dispersed and the county has the lowest population density, with West Devon having the being sparsely populated district in the region.
  • The unitary authorities of Plymouth and Torbay are both included under this section.
