South West Nature Map - how the map was produced

The Nature Map was produced through regional consultation using the best available biodiversity data, local expert knowledge and the South West Wildlife Trust’s Rebuilding Biodiversity - New Landscapes for Wildlife and People - an introductory primer (2004).

Following a number of regional workshops looking at the purpose, methodology and process for the map’s production, a series of county meetings were held under the aegis of the local biodiversity action partnerships.
Over 200 biodiversity experts were involved in the production of the Nature Map.

Further background to the South West Nature Map, including the consultation process is available here.
